Base64/URL/Hex Encoder Decoder

Base64/URL/Hex encoder and decoder. Zero-knowledge tool—runs locally in your browser.

Base64 has no key: anyone can reverse it, so it encodes rather than protects. Use standard Base64 for file payloads and Base64URL when the result must survive a URL or a JSON Web Token segment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which encoding formats are supported?

Base64, URL encoding, Hex, and HTML entities, including Unicode escapes.

Is encoding the same as encryption?

No. Encoding is reversible without a key and is not secure. Never use it to protect sensitive data — use the AES encryptor instead.

Does it work offline?

Yes. All conversions happen in your browser, so the tools keep working after the page has loaded.

Which Base64 variants does the decoder accept?

Both the standard alphabet (+, /) and the URL-safe alphabet (-, _) are accepted, and padding may be omitted (common in JWTs and URL parameters). Malformed padding such as Z=m9v, AB=C or Zm9vYmFy= is rejected with an explicit error, and inputs containing spaces or line breaks are rejected as well rather than being silently repaired. Hex input is separate: it must contain only 0-9/a-f and have an even number of characters.

How do I decode a data URI?

Paste the full data: URI and the tool separates the media type from the Base64 payload before decoding. The decoded bytes are shown locally, so binary content can be inspected without uploading it.
