Convert PNG to WebP in Your Browser
Turn PNG images into WebP files without uploading anything. Compression runs on your device, so the file never leaves your browser. Batch several images, adjust quality, then download them together as a ZIP.
WebP is roughly 25–35% smaller than PNG at the same visual quality, because it uses lossy compression. Lossless mode is available when the image is an icon or screenshot where artefacts would be visible.

Why convert PNG to WebP?
- 1WebP usually produces a smaller file than PNG at the same visual quality, which cuts page weight and bandwidth.
- 2WebP keeps transparency, so logos and UI graphics survive the conversion with their alpha channel intact.
- 3Because the encoder runs locally, screenshots and design files you would rather not upload stay on your machine.
How to convert PNG to WebP
- 1Add files: Drop your PNG files onto the drop zone, or paste one from the clipboard.
- 2Choose the output format: Keep the output format set to WebP and pick the quality you want.
- 3Convert and download: Convert, then download each file or take all of them as a ZIP.
Frequently asked questions
Does converting PNG to WebP lose transparency?
No. WebP supports an alpha channel and this tool keeps it. When WebP is the output format, transparent areas stay transparent.
How much smaller will the WebP file be?
It depends on the image. Lossy WebP at around 80% quality is often noticeably smaller than PNG; photographs gain the most, flat graphics with few colors the least.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so no image data is sent to us. You can check this yourself in your browser’s network panel while a conversion runs.
